Shannon Westphal, MSW, LCSW

I believe healing happens from the inside out. My work is rooted in a bottom-up, nervous system–focused approach that honors the unique ways your mind and body have adapted to life’s experiences. Together, we’ll move beyond surface-level coping and work toward meaningful, lasting change.

I specialize in working with individuals who are ready to go deeper—those who may appear high-functioning on the outside but feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected within. Many of my clients are trauma survivors, including those impacted by vicarious trauma, who are seeking a more profound sense of clarity, regulation, and freedom in their lives.

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to you. I integrate trauma-informed, somatic, strength-based, and solution-focused practices to support your healing process. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps the brain and body reprocess distressing experiences so they no longer feel overwhelming or limiting.

I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health. My clinical experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults in both individual and group therapy settings, supporting a wide range of needs across the lifespan.

Above all, I see therapy as a space where you can reconnect with your strengths, process what’s been holding you back, and move toward the life you want to live. You don’t have to carry it alone—and you don’t have to stay stuck.
